Saturday April 21, 2018 is the 236th anniversary day of the Bangkok Metropolitan, and also, the day when all private and government universities of Thailand joined the cooperative project of “The Universities of Voluntary Mind for Cooperative Improvement of Communities”, to respond the Royal Initiative of His Majesty the King; "Doing Heart Work". Interestingly, lecturers and students from varieties of universities willingly applied their skills and potentials to do their heart works around the areas of communities. Normally, such the voluntary activities always were done by universities, already; however, doing with hearth and cooperation of the universities’ is very historically wonderful. It may comparatively like simultaneous pitching huge number of stones into river resulting in giant wave, such the action must be the source of wonderful big optimistic change of social and nation, as well.
On such phenomenon, many famous universities from Bangkok and from all over the nation had paid high strength with heart to mindfully improve their neighbor locations, such as in the Northern part, Chiang Mai University had done with the hearth on improvement of Wat Phra That Doi Suthep areas, Maejo University of Maejo municipality areas, and University of Payao of thousands of Rai (2.5 Rai = 1 Acre) of the university areas. For the North Eastern part, Rajamangala University of Technology Isan became the leader for the heart work to improve the areas of Mae Un Waterfall, Sakon Nakhon, Phayanaka Plateu, Nakhon Phanom. Kalasin University, the new comer one of big heart, became the leader for improvement of the areas around university. For Southern one, Prince of Songkla University had improved Wat Nernpijit, Songkla. For the Central one, Rajamangala University of Technology Suvarnabhumi dealt with the areas of Aytthaya Historical Park to please the minds of huge rising numbers of tourists catching the fever of Buppesannivas drama. Burapha University took care of Eastern one around Bangsaen Beach to more attract visitors.
In Bangkok, Saun Dusit Rajabhat University dealt with Cultural Thai food, improvement of Saun Aoy Community, Klong Toei District areas, Bang Phlat areas. Chulabhorn Ratcha witthayalai provided expert medicine team for health care on holidays. Srinakharinwirot Prasarnmit University did trash recycle process for meet the required green world destiny around the areas of Sukhumvit road, Wattana district. The 3 King Mongkut’s one cooperatively did the hearth works as well; KMUTT cleaned the areas of Thung Khru and Thonburirom Park, Bang Mot , KMUTNB improved the environmental scenes around the university both Bangkok campus and Rayong’s. KMITL improved the neighbor areas of original Hau Takhe Market community to live the better strong healthy educated and professional life to meet the community’s identity.
Moreover, many favorite private universities, such as Siam University, Sripatum University, University of the Thai Chamber Commerce, UTCC, had mindfully joined the voluntary mind project; Sripratum University taught members of Bangbua Community Housing to manage household account for better job, savings. University of Thai Chamber, UTCC, took care of Huai Khwang and Viphavadi areas to gain better attractive environmental scenes. Siam University joined the government officers to take care the areas of Rajburana district to reorganize social behavior for better safety and environment. Such the said ones are only some parts of the heart works for the higher educational voluntary mind projects of the nation.
Nevertheless, for any university of local improvement or that of specific research or of worldwide one, all of them must not forget to start the improvement or development from that of traditional root of social, the communities of the nation.
If the base or foundation of community is not strong enough it must be harder to continue the nation improvement. If universities of Thailand cooperatively mindfully enjoy heart works sincerely, 200 or more communities around the nation will never be forgotten.
